2023 Walks programme
March 24th, 2023
Nature Walks start from the Stew Pond Car Park unless otherwise shown, and last for approximately two hours. Wear suitable footwear and clothing, and if possible bring a pair of binoculars. 

Sunday 30th April - 7:30 am - Early Morning Bird Walk 

Join Graham Cotten for a walk across the Common to see and hear a variety of birds, both resident and summer visitors.

Saturday 20th May - 2:00pm - Horton Country Park

Stewart Cocker will lead a walk on Horton Country Park.  Meet by the notice board next to the public toilets in the car park off Horton Lane.

Saturday 10th June - 2:00pm - Wildflower Walk 

Peter Howarth from the Countryside Team will lead a walk to find and identify wildflowers on the Common. 

Sunday 2nd July - 10:30 am - Butterfly Stroll 

The annual search for the elusive Purple Emperor butterfly will be led by Alison Gilry.  Join her to find, identify and record other butterflies, moths and invertebrates that inhabit the Common. 

Sunday 6th August - 2:00pm - Bush Cricket Hop 

Steve Nevard will lead a walk to detect and hopefully see some of the varied species of Grasshoppers, Bush Crickets and other insects that thrive on the Common.
